Early Years Foundation Stage

Jo Jo’s Day Care Nursery Ltd will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage that has seven areas of learning and development that shapes our educational programme in our setting. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three areas are:
- communication and language
- physical development
- personal, social and emotional development
We also support children in four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. The specific areas are:
- literacy
- mathematics
- understanding the world
- expressive arts and design
Special Educational Needs
At Jo Jo’s Day Care Nursery Ltd we take specific action to help children with special educational needs to make the best possible progress by planning for full participation in all learning, physical and practical activities.
Throughout the early years, if a child’s progress in any prime area give concern, the practitioners will discuss this with you and agree how to support the child. The practitioners will consider whether a child may have a special education need or disability which requires specialist support. Which the nursery will link with, and help families to access, relevant services from other agencies as appropriate.
